Chaaral (Shreya Ghosal)
My favorite singer has delivered yet another impressive performance even though this is an average song which passes muster. The orchestration and Shreya’s voice are the only saving grace for this song. It is definitely not a bad song but if this were not to be a Rajini movie this song would have gone unnoticed.
Cinema Cinema ( Shankar Mahadevan)
A mass song and the Shankar is the best choice without a hinge of doubt. The song is a typical Rajini song patronizing the hero to the maximum extent possible. G.V Prakash has tried his best to influence the song with the quality of music he is used to and has succeeded reasonably with his attempt. There is a nice Violin interlude in the middle .I know there are lot of people who still don’t understand why Rajini has a phenomenal following considering the fact that he is neither extremely talented as a Sivaji or a Kamal Hassan but I guess that what makes him a legend in his own right . There is always a lot of criticism on how Rajini looks and that he is not a terrific actor . But it will be very difficult for anyone to emulate the success that he has achieved considering the fact that he was an bus conductor with no support when he started his venture into films. His ability to appeal to the ordinary man is an achievement which may never be surpassed. Rajini’s story has been a classic fairy tale and he continues to live it. Rajini’s fans will go crazy over this song.
Om Zarare (Daler Mehdni , Sadhana Sargam , Chithra)
Another song patronizing RajiniKanth. This is a nice peppy song with decent rhythmical beats. Daler has joined the list of non-Tamil singers who I believe are on a crusade to kill Tamil. Daler still has that magnetic voice which has won him a huge fan following but his rendition of Tamil makes a mockery of his talent. Sadhana is as usual impressive.
Perinba (Kailash Kher , Prassana)
This is the third song in a row praising the Hero. I do like Rajini but an overdose of anything is never a good thing .Normally these kinds of songs do not gain this much importance but in this movie since Rajini plays himself the patronizing gets a little silly. Kailash seems to be tailor made for this song along with Prassana. The song is actually not that bad and has a very catchy tune. Rajinikanth is a very good human being and a terrific actor when given the opportunity but I don’t think he is any of all the things that this song seems to suggest.
Sollama ( Hariharan,Sujatha)
Finally some sanity prevails with this melodious song. Hariharan and Sujatha deliver this simple song very sincerely which makes for good listening. But I believe that Prakash has failed to use this terrific opportunity to stamp his authority in this song. You can find the music director in the short but impressive piano interlude. It could be that he did not have time or he simply wanted to play it safe. In either case this is the best song in the album if you are interested in quality music and not Rajini the actor.
G.V Prakash has tried his best to satisfy Rajini’s fans and in the process has tried something very different than he is used to. The focus of all his previous albums was to produce quality music but with this album he has had only focus “Rajini” .
It is a good album if you evaulate G.V Prakash as a music director. It is an awesome album if you are a Rajini fan.

Vallamai Thaaraayo deals with the change that takes place in a married woman’s psyche. Here, a premarital affair and its repercussions form the focal point in the plot. Torn between her own longing for the lover she spurned land a good life partner who understands her predicament, the lady protagonist faces an internal dilemma and ultimately, finds a solution to the problem more or less through trial and error.
Nandhitha (Chaya Singh) and Anand (Parthiban) are newly wed. Anand is happy with the marriage but Nandhitha, who married him against her will, is disturbed and unhappy. She sacrificed her love for Sekar (Srikanth) because Nandhitha and Sekar’s families did not approve of their affair. Nandhitha’s father Veerasamy (Anandraj) forced her to marry the city-dweller Anand. But even after marriage, Nandhitha is unable to forget Sekar. She longs to go back to him and be his life partner. Helpless, feeling imprisoned in this forced marriage, longing to be united with Sekar, she still steps into Anand’s household as his bride.
Soon, Nandhitha learns that Anand is a fine gentleman. His broad-minded views and his practical attitude towards life come as a surprise to the troubled female. Even so, she does not reconcile herself to their marriage, but keeps dreaming how happy she could have been with her old lover. As a consequence, she feels distanced from her husband and does not enjoy marital bliss. Her spirit continues to yearn for Sekar’s love; even when she tries to convince herself about her husband’s kindness and sterling qualities, Nandhitha is pulled away by a stronger feeling for Sekar. Gradually, unable to handle her problem, mustering her strength, she takes a shattering decision and files for divorce. Next, Nandhitha embarks upon a frantic search for her lover and finally finds him. Where, when and how? Does Sekar preserve the same degree of love and longing for Nandhitha? Overcoming all constraints, is he prepared to join her? What happens when they meet again?
Debutante director Madhumita has tried to solve the problem in her exclusive style. Applying minimum drama and maximum logic, she has done justice to the heroine’s portrayal and her emotions, thus also presenting a convincing and elegant solution to her problem. Neither Anand nor Sekar can resolve Nandhitha’s problem. So, who helps her out? What solution does she choose to overcome her self-created sorrow?? To know more and to enjoy the riveting sequences, watch Vallamai Thaaraayo on the silver screen.
Undoubtedly, the film is yet another highlight in Parthiban’s career. As a modern citizen with progressive attitude who accepts his wife’s affair with an unbiased outlook (unbelievable as it may sound), he has given a glowing performance. His cool smile, composed demeanour, prudence in his approach - all will surely impress audiences. The role is very appealing with its subtle style of presentation, even without any super-hero masala.
For Chaya Singh too, it is a novel portrayal. The role resembles nothing the skilled dancer/ actress has done earlier in Kollywood. She has returned to the silver screen after a small pause in her career in a superior role. With a refreshing aptitude, she has put in maximum effort to give life to the rebellious character. The pricking guilt and the spluttering angst-riddled outbursts she displays as the grief-stricken Nandhitha will torment each and every spectator. Srikanth has put up a good show through his striking cameo.
Performances of seasoned actors like Anandraj and Kuyili and Karunas’ comedy are other outstanding aspects in the film. Bharadwaj’s music has produced an enjoyable album dominated by sweet melodies. Lensman Rajarajan’s camera poetically captures the lives of Anand and Nandhitha. Viewers will empathize with the sorrow and joy of the couple throughout the film.
How does this film compare with K. Bhagyaraj’s classic Andha 7 Naatkal? How much is Vallamai Thaaraayo influenced by the classic? See the film and decide for yourself. We do not want to spoil the climax.
Preview / Synopsis: “Vallamai Tharayo” featuring Parthiban and Chaya Singh in the lead, is set for release.
The film is about marital discords and divorces. A woman seeks divorce soon after her marriage though her husband is a nice guy. Mutual understanding and cordial interpersonal relations between a man and wife is the key to the success of any marriage. With modern-day women being increasingly assertive, conflicts and confrontations between wife and husband have become common. Women are competing with men for equal space in all spheres of activity as also in life. Not all husbands and wives live in perfect harmony. They get into awkward situations which more often than not spell doom. The film is based on such situations.
“Vallamai Tharayo” is Madhumita’s debut film. She is Kollywood’s new and young woman director has written the story and screenplay herself. She says she has not made any compromise while making this “emotional entertainer with a strong message”. Though she has not lived in India, she is steeped in Indian culture, she asserts. She is confident that the story would find acceptance among the viewers here. She claims that members the Central Board of Film Censors, who saw the film, have commended her for making such a ‘good film’.
The film’s audio release function was boycotted by Parthiban accusing Madhumita of slighting him. The rift between them seems to have healed. Madhumita in her interactions with mediapersons heaps praise on Parthiban, who, she says, is a fine actor and there were no ego clashes between them during the shooting of the film and he provided very good support to her.
According to Madhumita, even before the release of “Vallamai Tharayo”, the Telugu remake rights have been snapped up and she has an offer from a top production house to direct a film. She is happy that she has got opportunities to direct films both in Tamil and Telugu. Source: starboxoffice.com
